To support the I Have A Dream Foundation we’re opening up our house to friends and family, and in turn to their friends and family, so that together we may learn how to help the kids in Los Angeles receive a better education.

We’ll update dogoodhere.com with more about IHAD in the very near future, but please visit their website — www.ihadla.org — to learn more.

In case you’re wondering why this foundation resonates with us, you simply need to check out our local high school graduation rates. The sub-50% numbers for lower income communities signifies the extent of the problem we face.

Whether you are a Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal, we can all unfortunately agree that our education system is broken. Yes, it would be nice for the body of leaders we vote into office to do something proactively effective, but until that happens it is our belief that we should shoulder the burden. After all, these are the same kids our daughter will grow up alongside.

It doesn’t matter if you have kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends with kids, or just hope for support from future generations this affects you, too. Frankly, it affects us all.

Prompted by this essential organization we’ve decided to start dogoodhere.com, both literally and the website. The I Have A Dream Foundation will be just one of numerous causes we intend to showcase, but we felt that this is as good a place to start as any.
